I usually write my blog entries offline, spend ages editing them and then finally (and assuming it’s all still relevant) post them weeks after the fact. Today though I’m just going to say “editing be damned” and get on with it.
I finally got to use one of my Christmas presents yesterday when I presented it at Gate 3 at Greenpoint Stadium. I was there to see Robbie Williams in the flesh.
I must confess that I wasn’t nearly as excited about it as I pretended to be. I’m not fond of crowds or traffic, nor did I relish the thought of standing around for hours and hours - we had standing tickets. But we went anyway. And I can tell you, the Robbie Williams concert will be a topic of conversation in our house for many years to come.
Robbie is a brilliant entertainer. He’s fun, he’s funny, he’s cocky and he had as good a time as we did. I don’t have any of his CDs in my collection and probably won’t add any anytime soon but when he comes back to SA, and I’m sure he will, I’ll be queueing to buy tickets.
You don’t have to be an ardent and devoted Robbie fan, you don’t have to be au fait with the lyrics to all his songs and hell you don’t even have to like him but seeing him live on stage… Just so worth it.
Thanks be to my Geek for the thoughtful Xmas pressie in the first place, the ticket may be used up but the memory will last a lifetime
